Question

As the young musician carefully plucked (A) the strings of his guitar, he struck (B) a chord that resonated through the room, poking (C) the audience's attention with the deliberate and melodious rhythm.

Which is the correct rearrangement of the parts (A), (B), and (C)?

Accepted Answer

**Solution:**

1. The original sentence is:
   - "As the young musician carefully plucked (A) the strings of his guitar, he struck (B) a chord that resonated through the room, poking (C) the audience's attention with the deliberate and melodious rhythm."

2. The phrase "he struck a chord" is an idiomatic expression meaning to evoke a feeling or response, which fits better when "struck" comes before "plucked".

3. Rearranging as BAC:
   - "As the young musician carefully struck (B) the strings of his guitar, he plucked (A) a chord that resonated through the room, poking (C) the audience's attention with the deliberate and melodious rhythm."

4. However, the explanation states the correct rearrangement is ABC/BAC, and option (b) "Both (A) and (C)" is the correct choice, indicating that both A and C parts are correct in their positions.

5. Therefore, the best answer is option (b) "Both (A) and (C)".

**Answer:** Both (A) and (C)
